Annual health screenings will be performed for all students grades 9-12:

• 9th grade- BP, height, weight, scoliosis

• 10th grade- BP, height, weight, vision

  • For assistance with vision referrals or glasses, please contact the school nurse

• 11th grade- BP, height, weight, scoliosis, hearing

• 12th grade- BP, height, weight

Parents/guardians will be notified in writing of any abnormal findings.

N.J.A.C. 6A:16-2.3(b)3ii – The certified school nurse conducts health screenings which include height, weight, blood pressure, hearing, vision, and scoliosis.

N.J.A.C. 6A:16-2.2(l)4-64 – Required Health Services Screening for scoliosis must be conducted biennially (occurring every two years) for students between the ages of 10 and 18. Screenings must be conducted by a school physician, school nurse, or other school personnel properly trained and the school district must notify the parent of any student suspected of deviation from the recommended standard.

N.J.S.A. 18A:40-4.4 – Exemption of students- Students shall be exempt from the examination upon the written request of their parent or guardian.

*For any exemption, please provide the health office with a copy of a current physical completed by your physician for that year.
